Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Finance & Accounting Director is a results driven leader who is responsible for overseeing all functional areas of accounting, including general ledger, inventory, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking. The position will also execute and provide accurate and timely support for all financial reporting activities.

This role is responsible for being a key business partner to the Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team in supporting strategic business and operational decisions.
  • Support Indigo goals by executing on short to mid-term departmental goals (1 year)
  • Maintain a high level of strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs, and adjusting departmental and team objectives accordingly
  • Identify, develop, execute and implement processes that improve accuracy and increase efficiency and/or reduce cost
  • Lead, oversee and champion all change management initiatives
  • Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of variance analysis, management reports and financial statements on a period, quarterly and annual basis
  • Support and participate in preparation of Indigo's public disclosure materials including annual and quarterly reports, press releases, annual information forms and management information circular
  • Accountable for leading payroll for the organization that includes accurate processing and distribution of payroll (Canada & US), payroll systems and all legislative requirements
  • Support and assist with, when necessary, the annual internal audit
  • In coordination with the Director Financial Reporting, act as a primary liaison with all external auditors
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs
  • Set and adhere to team budgets
  • Proactively identify and anticipate internal customer expectations & needs and always place them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes
  • Embrace and seek out technology and process improvement
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE:
  • Professional accounting designation; CA preferred
  • At least five (5) years of management experience with increasing leadership roles, including leading large teams having a mix of transactional and professional staff
  • At least five (5) years of experience working in a complex accounting and external financial reporting environment
  • Proficient in IFRS
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Knowledge of Finance and HR technologies
  • Limited travel
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
