NEW COVENANT CONSULTANT OPPORTUNITY TO WORK FOR LEADING PENSION COMPANY IN LEEDS

In the market for a new unique role in the Leeds area with a highly professional and well established financial services organisation?
Our client is a specialist FTSE listed financial services company looking for a Covenant Consultant to work at their modern offices in Leeds, an exciting opportunity to join our client's growing employer covenant team supporting their wider pension's advisory offering. You will work alongside our clients established team of specialists and you will be integral to accelerating the growth of the business team both in terms of seeking out fresh opportunities and deliver a high quality service.
Our client are looking for a Covenant Analyst at a Senior Associate level, a role that requires excellent analytic and communication skills, along with a drive to learn about and understand the financial health of businesses. The role is in the Covenant Advisory Team a specialist team which provides advice to both trustees of defined benefit pension schemes and the companies which sponsor them regarding all aspects of the employer covenant.
Assessment of the employer covenant, the financial health of the sponsoring company is becoming ever more vital so trustees of schemes need to fully understand the financial strength of the employer(s) standing behind the pension scheme, as well as any key risks associated with their business and it is this function that the specialist covenant team carry out for our client and a summary of duties appear below:-
Gather information from relevant sources (including requesting information from companies and obtaining publicly available information) as part of employer covenant projects.
Use various data sources to obtain relevant information, such as DataStream, Companies House, or equivalent.
Analyse financial statements of companies and other information received to assess the current financial position of employer(s), both on a qualitative and quantitative basis.
Prepare draft reports and / or presentations of varying degrees of detail, setting out the results of the employer covenant analysis and advice.
Manage junior resources and delegate efficiently where and when appropriate, and liaise with colleagues in other teams.
Research various industries, sectors or companies, as required for client works and/or business development.
Assist with the preparation of briefing notes and other literature regarding the latest legislative developments and case studies relating to the employer covenant.
Assist with the preparation of internal training courses regarding the employer covenant plus presentations regarding various topics relating to the employer covenant, to be presented externally for marketing purposes.
Assist with tenders and proposal to win new business.
If you are a holder of an Accounting or similar qualification with previous experience regarding corporate transactions & direct consulting experience then we would like to hear from you.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing skills are essential for this opportunity as well as the ability to manage junior resources and support senior people within the team & identify fee generating opportunities. Very strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills will also be required. A solid understanding of the UK pensions industry and the latest guidance from the Pensions Regulator regarding the employer covenant would be an advantage but no formal prior experience relating to the employer covenant is required (although would also be very advantageous.
