We are a construction company working on several large construction projects in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. We are looking for a detailed orientated Senior Accountant to become a part of our team.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
?? Record and maintain open and problem Accounts Receivable collection issues and other related financial issues
?? Record and maintain open and problem Accounts Payable issues and other related financial issues
?? Review and prepare documents required for timely payment of billing and invoices, supporting project financial reviews and communicating cost over–runs to Controller
?? Responsible for job cost tracking, analysis, and reporting. Assure that all accounting transactions and procedures are handled and authorized appropriately.
?? Prepares journal entries and other work papers. Review and prepare monthly and quarterly procedures for closing the books.
?? Monitoring the financial progress of jobs – Job Cost Analysis Reports (variance analysis) that compare actual job costs to budgeted job costs on a proactive and timely basis
?? Work on day–to–day accounting and operational issues; solve problems by gathering data and analyzing results
?? Maintain a high level of confidentiality of all job–related matters
?? Communicate with co–workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner
?? Complete weekly certified payroll reports
?? Complete monthly union due calculations
?? Prepare weekly payroll calculations
?? Perform additional duties as necessary
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
?? Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
?? Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office required, Quickbook job costing
?? At least 7 years of hands–on accounting experience required; prior experience in the construction industry strongly preferred
?? Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
?? Ability to manage and develop 1 staff
?? Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
