Overview

The Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller to perform daily operations of the Organization's accounts receivable lifecycle and to oversee the management of the accounts receivable business functions and procedures for residential and commercial properties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherences to guidelines for proper crediting of payments to appropriate accounts
  • Distributes invoices and statements as provided by established schedules
  • Manages the prompt processing of all receivables, credit memos, etc.
  • Ensures accurate input of tenant billings/charges/credits, construction-related activity and tenant lease information into the financial system
  • Prepares periodic reports, rent rolls and sales tax returns
  • Records cash receipts activity for tenants, and for general items
  • Processes tenant statements, construction billings, security reports and withdrawals
  • Liaises with the Collections Manager as needed
  • Supports the Assistant Controller, Controller, and CFO on other projects or tasks as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution in Accounting
  • 3-7 Years of accounts receivable experience
  • Commercial and/or residential real estate accounting experience a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures on manual and automated systems
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in financial software systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, other database systems
  • Ability to identify potential issues and apply strong problem-solving techniques, where appropriate
  • Experience with MRI software a plus
  • Ability to be proactive and independently able to carry out tasks requiring first-rate analytic skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team
  • Ability to set priorities and manage projects and timelines for deliverables
  • Must possess effective and efficient oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong attention to detail and solid time management skills
