General Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant maintains all necessary data used for developing standard costs and is knowledgeable of all phases of cost accounting procedures, including formulation, raw material and packaging supply requirements and yields, and the application of labor and overhead budgets and rates. Establishes product cost for all assigned products and participates in preparation of budgeted cost of goods for those products. Maintains production and inventory records, and performs all functions required to publish periodic manufacturing reports. Investigates and analyzes all variances from standard or budget. Responsible for the preparation of quarterly product cost forecasts and cost estimates for assigned products. Will need to perform internal audits as assigned. Responsible for the financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for the company.

Basic Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Business degree, Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 7 years of experience working in cost accounting and financial analysis for a manufacturing company
- Experience with pulling data from ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills including advanced formulas and macros
- Intermediate Access database experience
- MBA degree
- Experience with Great Plains software
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond to situations outside of normal working hours as needed
- Must be able to walk distances, climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, wear required PPE in designated areas
- Establishes standard product costs for assigned products and maintains all cost elements; including current formulation, raw material and packaging supply requirements, labor and overhead.
- Coordinates production and inventory records, assigns value basis established standard costs, and generates necessary accounting entries in conformance with established company policy.
- Analyzes and publishes monthly manufacturing reports on schedule.
- Performs plant and outside warehouse audits as assigned.
- Maintains all work routines within the established time schedules and suggest improvements where appropriate.
- Becomes thoroughly knowledgeable of all phases of cost accounting
- Operates personal computer utilizing various software programs in all aspects of duties.
- Provides service and guidance to the Operations staff regarding operation and accounting procedures.
- Preparation of annual budget including collaborating with department managers
- Preparation of quarterly forecasts

- Maintains a high level of expertise within Great Plains software to resolve questions and issues related to the capabilities and uses of the ERP system
