General Job Description: To provide support for the financial reporting and general ledger, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as necessary.

Required Education: Minimum requirement: a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

Required Work Experience: Three years of experience depending on relevance to the position

  • Foster a positive working relationship with all stakeholders including lenders, board members, vendors, fellow employees, and visitors while projecting a positive image to the community.
  • General Ledger
  • Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and make adjusting entries as necessary
  • Monitor and reconcile Intercompany accounts
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all relevant accounts
  • Maintain report formats and create new reports as necessary
  • Billing
  • Prepare reports to submit to agencies for reimbursement for services
  • Take corrective actions as necessary to ensure complete reimbursement
  • Maintain appropriate accounts receivable sub-ledger
  • Financial Reporting
  • Review account balances for reasonableness and accuracy
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and financial statements
  • Compile, analyze and report monthly financial results and budget variances
  • Research deviations from planned expenditures and making necessary corrections and or recommendations.
  • Assist with the annual audit including the preparation of audit work papers
  • Fixed Assets
  • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledgers
  • Post depreciation monthly
  • Monitor CIP and capitalize assets as appropriate
  • Reconcile fixed assets monthly
  • Work to maintain the financial stability, strength and liquidity of the organization and other tasks and special projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications

  • Demonstrates understanding of the philosophy of The Children's Guild
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP/GAAS) and auditing practices
  • Computer literate exhibiting proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sage Intacct (preferred), Paycom (preferred), and other relevant software products.
  • Knowledge of Internal Controls
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit organizations and practices
  • Good interpersonal skills, a team player mentality, and demonstrate personal initiative to complete the work of the team as a whole
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • High reliability and propensity to meet work schedule consistently
