Internal Auditor III
The Job The Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector is recruiting for Internal Auditors III who conduct financial, compliance and operational audits of all departments, Board governed special districts, and grants. Duties include determining the scope of audits; preparing audit programs; performing detail testing to verify accuracy of data and effectiveness of accounting procedures and controls; and discussing audit findings with management. For more detailed information regarding job duties, refer to the Internal Auditor III job description. Auditing Pay Differential - 2.0% above base rate of pay. Certified Public Accountant Stipend - $750 annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. Incumbents will be required to make provision for transportation. At time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR Bachelor's degree in another field which includes 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, half of which must be upper division . A list of completed college coursework or legible transcripts must be submitted with the application if the applicant does not possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Substitution: An active California Certified Public Accountant license may substitute for the education requirements. You must list your license on the license/certification section on your application. -AND- Experience: Two (2) years of professional level auditing experience performing internal or external audits conducted in accordance with AICPA, IIA, or GAGAS, standards. Auditing experience must have resulted in the preparation of reports indicating the audits were conducted in accordance with the above referenced standards. Substitution: One (1) year of professional level accounting experience (equivalent to a County of San Bernardino Accountant II or higher) may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. Note: Candidates who attended a college or university that is accredited by a non U.S. accrediting agency must have their educational units evaluated by an educational evaluation service. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, extensive governmental accounting/auditing experience and possess one of the following designations: California Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner or Certified Information Systems Auditor.
