River Valley Counseling Center, Inc. is looking to hire a Full Time Accounting Manager.

River Valley Counseling is looking to hire a knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. To be successful in this role, as an Accounting Manager, you should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal candidate should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong understanding of non-profit accounting, management principles and financial legislation

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
  • Train and motivate the accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with implementing, evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, departmental policies and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports and filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records
  • Analyze general ledger data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.
  • Provide Department Managers with financial information and assist with interpretation
  • Assist with various projects assigned by the Director of Finance (e.g. budgeting, reconciliations, variance analysis, etc.)
  • Keep Director of Finance informed of all activities and issues related to the accounting systems and the accounting staff
  • Participate and/or assist with external auditors or consultants as needed.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in using all relevant RVCC computer systems accurately and effectively
  • The ability to work and problem solve independently and function within a team environment

Accounting Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college or university
  • Three to five years progressive experience in non-profit accounting (mental health or healthcare setting preferred) to include one to two years of supervisory or lead responsibility
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of non-profit accounting, finance, and management principles.
  • Experience with state and federal grants and contracts (preferred) and related billing, reporting and filing requirements
  • Proficiency with computers; especially bookkeeping software and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
  • Willingness to comply with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.
  • A self-starter with the ability to problem solve and think flexibly.
