Welcome from Claire Wilson - Executive Director of Finance - Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH).

Having joined Wirral University Teaching Hospitals (WUTH) in January of 2020 and having to face the unprecedented challenge of Covid 19 along with existing NHS pressures to the Finance team. I'm keen to develop an exceptional finance function that can support our divisions, Hospital and patients to meet any and all challenges moving forward. As such the role of Finance Business Partner is critical to our success.

Finance Skills Development (FSD) is at the heart of our learning and improvement journey, you will truly make a difference by working closely with experienced colleagues, accomplished business leaders and access to extensive ongoing professional development across the Hospital and region.

Thank you for your application. We look forward to meeting you very soon.

Claire Wilson, Executive Director of Finance.

The role of Finance Business Partner is a key to our finance team and critical to our success.

Applicants will be a highly motivated CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with experience of working at a senior level within a Finance or Business Environment. Applicants may not be currently working in the NHS but must share our desire and passion to make a real impact on our patients.

You will be an integral member of our team, leading, engaging, and influencing staff (both clinical and non-clinical) at all levels. We have ambitious plans and are looking for aspirational, committed team players to join us, making a real difference along the way.

This exciting opportunity will give the successful candidate the responsibility for:
  • Provision of information, guidance, support and advice to Division, Executive Directors and other Trust managers to enable them to plan, monitor and control the services within available resources
  • Strategic role alongside the Clinical Head of Division, Divisional Director, Associate Director of Nursing and Executive Directors in providing financial input into service wide decisions regarding strategic direction and management
  • Implementing profitability analyses across the Division
  • Provide detailed information and analyses for Service developments, Service redesigns and Business cases (both revenue and capital) in line with investment policy. Monitoring the implementation to ensure delivery
  • Efficiency reviews and assisting in identifying Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) schemes for the current and future years
  • Forecasting & Planning of the Divisions
  • Budget Setting, Annual Plan, Monthly monitoring, reporting to the Divisions and information for the NHSI returns

Due to the global pandemic there have been many challenges our Finance team have had to face and we are looking for team players with excellent communication and relationship building skills to join the team. These skills will be heavily relied on as the team are currently working remotely, so new staff can expect a warm 'remote' welcome but will need to have the ability to build relationships with the team and division whilst working from home for part of the working week. Although this has been a change to our usual meeting approach and required some adaption to our approach, we've found it to be working successfully and applicants should be able to and be comfortable in working in this way.

Please complete the on-line application and send a covering letter to martin@seymourjohn.com outlining your reasons for applying. If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please call Martin Chadwick.
