Financial Accountant - 1 Month Contract

David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Financial Accountant.

This role requires an experienced professional with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position will perform month-end close activities and provide financial information and analysis within a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

This position reports to the Manager of Financial Accounting.

The Role:

• Responsible for monthly accounting close processes, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assisting in the consolidation of the Canadian entities
• Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization, including Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other Business Managers
• Utilize problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting process at the company
• Assist external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
• Assist with completion of quarterly and year-end financial disclosures
• Assist with ad hoc reports and projects, as requested

The Ideal Candidate:

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting
• 3 years of experience in a relevant accounting position, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Must be an advanced user of Excel
• Experience with the Oracle financial systema plus
• Exceptional attention to detail, ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, be a self-starter
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
• Cooperative and effective team member, Ability to interact with all levels of employees
