The accreditation schemes managed by IA&L include driver and rider trainers, multi-combination heavy vehicle driver training and assessment, pilot and escort vehicles, traffic controllers, tow truck industry, dangerous goods transport by road, motorcycle licence training and assessment (Q-Ride), approved inspection stations, approved examiners and persons, heavy vehicle registration assessment accredited persons, operator accreditation and driver authorisation.

In support of these functions, the team audits Q-Ride providers, Approved Persons, and Registered Training Organisations delivering courses to become a driver trainer, get a multicombination or dangerous goods driver licence, or become a pilot or escort driver. In addition to performing the audit task, we are looking for a Senior Auditor who can contribute to the development and implementation of modernised audit and compliance frameworks.

Accountabilities in the role of Senior Auditor include:

• Lead and manage an ongoing program of audits to ensure accreditation schemes are appropriately monitored, and approval holders are informed of, and held accountable for, regulatory requirements.

• Monitor the performance of accreditation schemes and identify areas of emerging risk to the preservation of public safety.

• Conduct research and analysis and prepare advice in relation to opportunities to improve and streamline existing audit and compliance frameworks (includes authoring policies, procedures, guidelines and information bulletins for industry).

• Conduct audits of approval holders and communicate appropriate corrective actions to be taken.

• Engage with approval holders to assist them to understand and comply with regulatory requirements of their approval.

• Ensure audits are completed within specified timeframes, documenting audit outcomes (such as corrective actions) and prepare timely, concise and accurate audit reports.

• Deal appropriately with confidential information often of a commercial nature.

• Perform duties, audits or investigations as directed by the Manager (IA&L).

• Develop, present and discuss audit findings with other auditors and Manager (IA&L).

• Undertake the role in accordance with the requirements of s26(1) of the Public Service Act 2008 and at all times ensure that the principles as found in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service are upheld in the carrying out of all duties

• Undertake your duties as a manager in accordance with s26(2) & (3) of the Public Service Act 2008 through regular management and performance conversations with staff under your supervision and by implementing departmental performance and development strategies to assist in developing and maintaining high performing and committed staff.

This position reports to the Manager (IA&L).
