The Role Responsibilities

Econometric Models
  • Develops models that produce plausible and coherent economic scenarios / projections of macroeconomic and market variables across the Standard Chartered Group's footprint economies for regulatory and internal programmes.
  • Contributes to building a strategic solution for macro-economic scenario design and automation of scenario generation processes
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Fosters good working relationships and solicits input from Global Businesses and Global Functions and, where relevant, external vendors to enhance scenarios
  • Participates in maintaining a robust model risk framework for scenario design models
Regulatory awareness
  • Stays informed of all regulatory developments related to the economic scenario work stream (e.g. Bank of England, IMF, IFRS9,)
  • EBA, Financial Stability Board, Basel Committee)

Our Ideal Candidate

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualified in a quantitative discipline (e.g. economics, statistics, mathematics,).
  • Professional work experience as an economist or econometrician
  • Prior experience of developing projections (forecasts) in a banking environment
  • Programming experience, e.g. R, SAS, MATLAB, VBA
  • Appreciation for new analytical methods and technical developments to drive enhancements within the Scenario Design framework
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders from different functions; comfortable
  • building relationships at various levels and across geographies.
  • Self-motivated person with a high level of drive, dedication and desire to excel consistently.
  • Focused and organised, with ability to prioritise and deliver effectively with fair degree of autonomy.
  • Understanding of the global economy and financial markets.
  • Some familiarity with wholesale and/or retail banking.
