Job Description: Finance ManagerAbout Rooftop FilmsRooftop Films is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showcasing the work of emerging filmmakers in outdoor locations, helping filmmakers to produce new films, and renting equipment & supporting film screenings citywide at low–cost to artists, nonprofits and community groups.In this unprecedented time, Rooftop Films has launched two premier drive–in theaters in New York one in Queens and one in Brooklyn to be able to further our mission and continue bringing films to audiences in a safe and accessible way.Currently, Rooftop Films staff members are working remotely rather than in our Brooklyn–based offices.About the PositionRooftop Films seeks a skilled, non–profit finance professional with an appreciation for film to join our team. Successful applicants must be detail–oriented, organized, and collaborative problem solvers. The Finance Manager plays a key role in managing Rooftop Films organizational accounting and is responsible for the day–to–day administration of the general ledger, with the support of a part–time bookkeeper. The Finance Manager will report to the Executive Director.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Manage the general accounting of the organization, including, among other things, journal entries, cash disbursements, accounts payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, reconciliation of bank accounts, and adjusting journal entriesOngoing management of the general ledgerAssist in preparation and monitoring of the operating budget working closely with Executive DirectorProcess accounts payable and receivable, and manage resolution of billing issuesManage bank card expenses and staff reimbursement processProcess, allocate and enter bi–weekly payrollExecute month–end close, including preparation of financial reportsPrepare short– and long–term cash flow analysesSupport the annual budgeting process, quarterly reporting, and annual auditAssist with implementation of accounting platformAssist with HR duties, including onboarding new employees, benefits administration, and employee record keepingEngage with staff for purposes of financial training and budget monitoringDevelop effective and efficient procedures to maximize organizational resourcesWork in close coordination with part–time bookkeeping staffPerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications and QualitiesBA in accounting or finance, and four or more years of non–profit experienceKnowledge of accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and GAAPProficient in QuickBooksA demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work toward solutions that benefit the organizationImpeccable attention to detail and excellent organizational, planning, prioritizing, and time management skillsStrong computer skills essential; intermediate to advanced Excel userCompensationCompensation will be commensurate with experience.
