The Assistant Controller is responsible for maintenance of general ledger and tax compliance. Also oversees General Accounting and Accounts Payable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Help with monthly preparation and review of financial statements and operating budgets. Provide administration and technical direction to Accounts Payable and General Accounting. This includes training and evaluating employees to enhance their performance. Lead monthly close process and ensure compliance with timelines. Interface with Operations Managers regarding monthly financial statements. Supervise external audits. Review and suggest changes to accounting procedure. Provide technical accounting guidance and direction on upcoming pronouncements. Daily banking functions. Special projects and reports as requested by CFO and Executive team. Oversee all General Accounting functions. Assist in set up of new entities. Collaborate with IT on accounting related projects. Assist in yearly performance reviews. The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline Minimum of 2 years public accounting experience 7 years of Finance or Accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry CPA – California Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Business Suite or other Enterprise level Finance package preferred Strong organizational, record–keeping and follow–up skills Demonstrated ability to be self–motivated, proactive and an effective team player Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position Ability to be self–motivated, proactive and an effective team player Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others TRAVEL: Up to 20% WORKING CONDITIONS: General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning Noise level is usually low to medium Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.
