Position Summary

Thycotic is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Accounting and Finance team. The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the corporate accounting department working closely with our Accounting Manager and Controller. This role is vital to ensuring that the day-to-day accounting and monthly close cycles are completed timely and accurately.

The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundation of corporate accounting experience, a strong attention to detail, and a proven ability to multitask and effectively prioritize daily duties and long-term projects.

This position is located in our DC headquarters and reports to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare and review monthly close entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement account fluctuation analysis.
    • Ensure that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards.
    • Prepare bank reconciliations and review bank activities.
    • Prepare timely journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, and accruals each month.
    • Maintain fixed asset schedules by recording additions, disposals, and related depreciation.
    • Ensure accounts payable invoices and employee reimbursements are paid timely, recorded accurately, and comply with company policy. This includes reviewing of invoice batches and employee expense reports, providing guidance on invoice coding, and assisting with vendor questions and troubleshooting.
    • Assist in preparing and completing the annual financial statement audit by creating PBC schedules, aggregating supporting documentation, and working with external auditors to facilitate the audit.
    • Provide support during the preparation of federal and state income tax returns and resolve various tax notices or requests.
    • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to document and monitor accounting policies and internal controls.
    • Work closely with the Accounting Manager and other accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close.
    • Assist with developing recommendations to optimize the company's accounting systems and procedures.
    • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed.


Skills & Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
    • Mix of audit experience and corporate accounting a plus.
    • Solid understanding of GAAP and basic accounting procedures.
    • Experience with accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
    • Hands-on accounting system experience and knowledge of Sage Intacct a plus.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; with advanced Excel skills.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal employees and external customers.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
