We seek a Senior Director of Accounting to provide leadership and manage the global accounting team, most of which is based in Fairfax, Virginia. Working closely with the Corporate Controller and with the most senior members of management, you will be responsible for accounting operations, consolidations and international accounting.
You will perform an essential function within the Financial Leadership Team, helping build consensus and commitment necessary to ensure effective and efficient accounting processes across corporate functions and operating groups. You will manage a team of 25 professional staff and be responsible for garnering support from the operating groups when specific business expertise and knowledge of the market is needed. Key responsibilities include:
Accounting Leadership:
- Envision and lead efforts to continue maturing the organization, systems and processes so that they scale both efficiently and effectively, while ensuring that appropriate controls continue to be institutionalized throughout the Company
- Oversee the global accounting operations and related activities, including General Ledger, Consolidations and International Accounting and Revenue Compliance
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and support executive management with earnings calls
- Drive efforts to appropriately educate personnel with regard to accounting pronouncements as well as company accounting policies and procedures
- Review, ensure compliance with and continually improve SOX controls over accounting systems and lead ongoing transformation efforts to streamline accounting systems and drive related efficiencies throughout the company
- Work with FP&A leadership to develop standard analytical tools to further aid operating groups in their financial planning and analysis, and provide training to key stakeholders impacted by planning and forecasting activities
People Leadership:
- Partner closely with all levels of Leadership to support and grow the business and ensure that best accounting principles are followed, while simultaneously reinforcing and instilling the defined values of ICF's finance department
- Create, communicate, and execute strategic initiatives across a complex and expanding organization
- Ability to continually mentor and develop team and ensure necessary skill sets are present
Reporting:
- Ensure ICF adheres to all relevant standards and principles including: General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC reporting requirements, statutory accounting regulations for various international locations
- Support the development of financial statements for SEC filings
- Ensure the compliance of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program
- Prepare data for the Earnings Release and Earnings Calls including schedule control, compiling data and Q&A
M&A Financial Analysis:
- Support due diligence and integration efforts associated with the accounting function of target companies
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- CPA
- 15+ years of overall experience in Accounting/Finance
- 10+ years of experience managing an Accounting department for a mid-large size company
- Experience working with Deltek Costpoint
- Experience working within a publicly traded company
- Strong knowledge of the revenue recognition standard
- Working knowledge Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience working in Accounting or Finance with a Government Contractor
- Experience working within a Management Consulting/Professional Services firm
- Experience leading intercompany/entity accounting
- Experience leading an international Accounting Function (experience working across Europe and Asia preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to research and resolve technical accounting matters
- Demonstrated experience with SEC reporting
- MBA or CFA
- Oracle HFM experience
