Due to expansion my client, a reputable family owned business, is looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant.

The Assistant Management Accountant will take responsibility for processing and reconciling all transactions through the business accounts ledgers, preparing month end and year end accounts for internal review and external audit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generating sundry sales invoices and processing self-billed sales invoices
  • Creating and processing inter-company equipment rental invoices
  • Processing supplier purchase invoices via Excel for import to Sage 50 Accounts using an existing Excel format, obtaining relevant approvals prior to payment
  • Preparation of weekly payment run summaries in Excel for circulation by email
  • Processing of supplier payments in Sage 50 Accounts and issuing of supplier remittances
  • Processing of credit card transactions and statement reconciliation
  • Maintenance of the Group Fixed Asset Register
  • Generating monthly depreciation recharge journals
  • Online bank payment of supplier invoices on a weekly and ad-hoc basis
  • Second authorisation of bank payments created by subsidiaries
  • Preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns
  • Reconciliation of supplier and customer statements, following up to resolve reconciling differences
  • Monitoring of aged debts and following up with customers on outstanding receipts
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Preparation and posting of monthly accruals and prepayments

Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant experience in a similar accounting role
  • Microsoft Excel skills, including use of data filters, pivot tables
  • Experience of accounting software packages (preferably Sage 50 Accounts)
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent attention to detail and an orderly approach to processing
  • Time management skills
  • Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers/suppliers
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • AAT qualified, ACCA or CIMA part qualified or qualified by experience
