JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Contract Compliance (FCC) department works with various stakeholders (corporate departments, continent leadership and regional teams, Legal) to ensure financial contractual responsibilities are executed and financial results are recorded in compliance with US GAAP. The organization supports corporate processes in partnership with the continent organizations worldwide across all brands, as well as the respective Finance Business Partners, Global Finance Centers of Expertise, and Accenture Hospitality Services (AHS).

As a member of the FCC Centralized Contract Maintenance (CCM) team, the Senior Manager is responsible for the monitoring of executed contracts, completion and documentation of contract reviews and consolidation of all maintenance to FCC tools impacting Fees (Management and Franchise) and Funds (Program Services Fund and Sales & Marketing Funds). This position is responsible for leading efficient contract review processes and centralized controls in accordance with MI's accounting policies. In addition, this position will support the transformation and transition of procedures to establish global governance processes as a result of the implementation of the Contract Engine via Project Train. The Senior Manager is responsible for approving the contract reviews in collaboration with other members of FCC, Continent / Regional Offices, Legal, and/or AHS. The Senior Manager will also collaborate with other Global Finance Centers of Expertise and Finance Business Partners to accomplish business objectives.

BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Expected Contributions

Centralized Contract Review:
  • Manage and execute in the weekly review of Law Manager Notification of Transactions (NOTs) to assess the impact of the executed contract changes to Fees and Fund calculations. This includes reviewing the CCM NOT Tracking File to facilitate the review of NOTs and document the assessment of NOTs in scope.
  • Approve contract reviews using the Contract Checklist for all NOTs and New Hotel Openings determined to have impact to FCC responsibilities and distribute to FCC teams to operationalize changes in the FCC tools. Ensure proper support and contract provision information is retained within the Contract Checklist.
  • Monitor and track ad-hoc maintenance requests executed by FCC.
  • Maintain CCM Maintenance Tracker to ensure all maintenance to FCC tools is documented, approved and completed timely to support financial close cycles. This includes routine reporting issued to FCC teams to communicate status of maintenance.
  • Compile monthly reporting metrics which provide visibility to the volume, type and source of maintenance to support efficient centralized contract review processes and highlight area for potential process improvements.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of standard processes to ensure accurate and timely contract reviews and documentation of maintenance required for fee/fund calculations and billing.

Governance and Global Partnerships:
  • Partner with Continent Finance and Legal teams on specific aspects of property-level agreements, including contract interpretation and unique provisions.
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in management and franchise standard form agreements for properties within the growing MI portfolio.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the various corporate disciplines and continent offices.
  • Focus on providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.


Systems and Special Projects:
  • Participate in and support Global Finance initiatives, including the implementation of an automated contract engine.
  • Provide analysis and review of contractual calculations and validation of reports related to Fees and Funds.
  • Prioritize issue resolution and focus on innovation and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to meet business objectives.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant finance/accounting experience
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems
  • Experience in lodging/hospitality industry and contracts/legal agreements strongly preferred


Education or Certification
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred
  • CPA or advanced degree preferred


Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong financial acumen with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical accounting skills; understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and related controls
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues and to initiate, design, implement and document required business processes
  • Experience in understanding complex contract provisions, evaluating risks, and resolving financial issues
  • Strong organization and managerial skills; ability to multi-task, support/initiate continuous process improvement, and lead/drive transformative process and system changes
  • Ability to motivate others and enhance the organization's capabilities through effective resource management
  • High degree of initiative; highly motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a "win-win" negotiating style

  • Previous PeopleSoft and/or SmartView experience preferred.
