Your new organisation

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is a modern fire and rescue service that meets the needs of twenty-first century Victoria. Established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria's Fire Services Reforms, FRV serves and protects communities across Melbourne and Victoria's major regional centres from 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state. Its career firefighters operate 47 fire stations in metropolitan Melbourne and 38 regional stations, most of which are co-located with CFA volunteer brigades. FRV proudly continues to work alongside the Country Fire Authority (CFA), which is a community-based volunteer fire service.


Your new role

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage all billing / transactional functions and an accurate current receivables ledger, undertaking regular review and adjustment of debtor records to enhance the accuracy of the ledger.
  • Process improvement and project management.
  • Managing a team along with work load allocation.
  • Prepare reports on Accounts Receivable results and outcomes, reconciliations.
  • Establish customer accounts, manage invoice stops, maintain customer relationships, ensure effective collections of accounts and provide recommendations on systems and processes.
  • Manage external collection activity on old debt and debt subject to legal or potential legal settlement.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports and documents including consolidated invoice packages, request for bad debts to be written off and list of doubtful debts, and performance KPIs including DSO, Bad Debts to Sales ratio, Value of High Risk Accounts and others as requested by management.

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least 5 to7 years broad commercial experience preferably in a large receivables and/or accounting environment.
  • You will be a qualifies CPA / CA
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in a management role, leading and developing a medium to large accounts team, managing high volume transactions.
  • Ideally you will have billing and AR experience
  • Sound exposure to credit control requirements and debt collection processes.
  • Having project implementation will be an absolute bonus however not a mandate

Attributes and skills required to be successful in this role include:

  • Billing along with end to end AR experience along with team management
  • Mandatory - Bachelor of Business, Accounting or equivalent.
  • Mandatory - CPA or CA qualified and substantial credit control and collection experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Windows and a sound knowledge of ERP accounting / receivables software.
