Assistant Accountant

This role sits within a progressive finance team which is expanding due to the companies success throughout the pandemic. This position will be reporting into the Finance Manager and will be a great role for someone who is fully AAT qualified or started their CIMA/ACCA qualification.

Description

• Update and manage the fixed asset register on a monthly basis
• To review the bank reconciliations and complete the monthly reconciliations for all bank and cash accounts
• To prepare and input monthly journals including calculating accruals and prepayments
• Service contract accrual calculation, coding and processing
• To reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and investigate old or unexplained items
• To review key P&L codes for high value or unusual items, and adjust if necessary
• Monitor VAT compliance
• VAT return calculation, submission and clear down
• To provide support and holiday/sickness cover for the finance team
• To document processes and review on annual basis
• To assist in the preparation of annual audit information

Profile

• Part qualified ACCA/CIMA or AAT level 4 and looking to study preferred although relevant experience will be considered
• Must have good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to work under own initiative
• Ability to find, test and implement more efficient work processes within finance function
• Good communications skills
