The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader across a broad range of commodities markets, with expertise in areas including client risk management, financing solutions and investor products Sales & Trading

Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading businesses in India. It covers functions across FID and Institutional Equities Division (IED) ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, strats to risk management.

FID Business Unit Risk Management (BURM) function is the first line of defense for the division and helps manage market, regulatory, conduct, operational and franchise risk. Key functions performed by the team include: trade surveillance, internal policy compliance, entitlements managements, counterpart risk management, documentation and broad operational risk management

The role is that of the Head of the Documentation team within GMG business in India. The person will be involved in production work as well as managing the team. The scope of responsibility includes:

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying necessary documentation for the clients to trade securities or OTC derivatives and perform related due diligence scans;
  • Drafting and negotiating legal documentation (included master agreements, amendments and ancillary documents such as ISDA, MRA, DF related documents, CDEA, ACAs etc);
  • Handling client negotiations and any related projects to ensure timely execution and completion;
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders in Credit, Risk Management, Legal and Sales regarding documentation terms;
  • Understanding and adhering to established procedures;
  • Communicating with clients and external counsel;
  • Supervising the work of junior colleagues.
  • Ensure that the team is structured efficiently to allow for robust coverage of work, long-term sustainability and best utilization of the team’s talent.
  • Set effective talent management strategies in place to cover hiring, retention, motivation and people management.
  • Explore opportunities to improve the existing processes and bring in more efficient solution.
  • Set the tone for the team imbibing Firm culture and policies within the team.
  • Contribute to the overall GMG division as part of senior management team

Qualifications

  • Law education
  • 10+ years of experience in performing negation documentation and also managing and developing teams
  • 5+ year’s law firm or financial industry experience in contract negotiation required. Preferably employed by or seconded to a bank in a documentation /business support roles
  • Demonstrable experience in having negotiated ISDA or MRA legal documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal);
