We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitiousQualified Accountantto join our team based in Paisley on a fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding European finance team in an organisation considered a global leader in its field which offers great career support, development and opportunities.

Location: Paisley

We provide financial controllership in the region for two of the Thermo Fisher Scientific groups - Life Sciences Solutions and Special Diagnostics Group (SDG). We are responsible for a large number of entities reporting a total of $2 Billion of revenue per year.

This role will support a high profile project the divestiture of our Anatomical Pathology Division which was part of the Speciality Diagnostics Group. The role will involve owning the internal and external reporting required to support the Transaction Service Agreement period as well as providing support.

What will you do ?
  • Understanding the financials and the picture they paint of the business
  • Providing analysis and commentaries of monthly performance
  • Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of monthly closing activities
  • Preparing and reviewing accounting entries
  • Performing balance sheet account reconciliations - researching and resolving any reconciling items on a monthly basis
  • Management reporting to Corporate through Hyperion
  • Working cross functionally with the other finance and non-finance teams based both on site and remotely
  • Ensuring compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley Act)
  • Coordinating and supporting the audit of APD related activity. This will include preparation of complex accounting adjustments and disclosures.
What are we looking for ?
  • An individual with a passion, commitment and desire to succeed. Highly motivated and detail oriented with excellent communication, computer and organisational skills
  • Someone who flourishes working with people to find innovative new solutions
  • Previous experience in a large scale organisation would be beneficial
  • Experience of month end reporting, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment
  • Ability to work well under time constraints
  • Ability to use their own initiative to work thrugh complex accounting matters.
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of SAP (Desired but not essential)
