Accounting Lead leads the function within RTR service line which encompasses all accounting activities in four areas – Revenue &AR, Inventory, Fixed Assets and Payroll Analytics. He/She is ensuring accurate accounting and reporting in these areas by directing and monitoring of all accounting and methodological activities, systems developments and policies settings. The person in this role is a primary contact for Heads of Divisional Finance, Commercial and Logistics organizations and for Head of SCM. Accounting Lead serves as a backup for RTR Lead.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Accounting team by identifying issues and gaps, assigning tasks and monitoring the progress and by providing insight and expertise to the team.
  • Set objectives for Accounting function, ensuring alignment with CFS strategy.
  • Establish effective communication with Divisional Commercial, Logistics and Finance organizations and within CFS to ensure high quality of services provided and appropriate and timely accounting treatment.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the areas of responsibility by analyzing of complex accounting issues and preparation of accounting position papers.
  • Ensure all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined, fully documented, in line with Abbott standards and consistent with best practices as well as aligned with the Global Teams (when applicable).
  • Review all changes to current policies, processes and procedures for the functional area before final approval.
  • Ensure effective and efficient execution of all assigned SOX control activities.
  • Review of the controls in the functional area to assess its completeness, adequacy and opportunity for automatization.
  • Communicate with external and internal auditor. Implement corrective measures to address audit findings (if any).
  • Act as SAP Key User and actively initiate and participate in improvements to sustain and develop an effective and efficient process.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with other team members and provide opportunities for their professional growth and development.
  • Identify and develop talents within the function.

IDEAL BACKGROUND:

Education:

  • Professional certification in areas of accounting and finance (ACCA, CPA, CIMA etc.) – completed or close to completion.

Computer literacy:

  • Intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, relevant experience with ERP/reporting systems (HFM). Understanding of interconnection of informational systems

English language:

  • Upper-intermediate

Project Management capabilities:

Communication:

  • Leads/participate in cross-functional/cross-divisional projects
  • Capable to present to BAC or local Divisional management, can have constructive and 'equal parties' discussions with BAC / local Divisional management

Experience:

  • 10 plus years of Financial experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills, and experience researching and documenting accounting issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization
  • SAP knowledge
  • Track record of successfully managed projects driving performance (e.g. ERP implementation)
  • Profound people skills, leadership exposure
