Looking to develop a career in International Development?

The AfID Workshop is a good first step..

One Moorgate, London

Next date: 09 Oct 2020 UK

8.30am - 5.00pm

A practical insight for accountants looking to volunteer or work in international development. A fun, informative and interactive day designed both for accountants looking to volunteer overseas and those considering a career move into the sector.

It’s a great way to learn about development, the varied roles for finance professionals, our assignments and the needs our many non-profit partners. The day is very relaxed and carefully designed to provide detailed insight into the different challenges, stakeholders and environments you will encounter; mixing real case studies and volunteer feedback with John and Neil's wealth of experience.

Career Changers

If you are thinking of a career change understanding the context of the accountant's role and effective ways of partnering with diverse stakeholders is essential; the insight you will gain from workshop will strengthen your candidacy and hopefully give you the edge you need to stand out in a popular sector. On our Career Changers page we feature true stories from accountants who have forged new and rewarding careers in the charity sector after volunteering.

Each workshop is delivered by John Cammack, a very experienced independent consultant in the non-profit sector. John is a qualified CIPFA accountant, consultant and university lecturer. John has been involved with international development work for over 30 years, previously as Head of International Finance at Oxfam GB and then Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Financial Management at Oxford Brookes University. Neil Jennings, the founder of Accounting for International Development, will also be in attendance to answer any volunteering or AfID partner related questions.

The workshop runs from 8.30am - 5.00pm (Registration 8.15am-8.30am) and is followed by a Past Volunteer presentation and Q&A 5.00pm - 5.30pm. For more click https://www.afid.org.uk/workshops
