Position Summary:

Working within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Speciality Diagnostic Group, within the Microbiology Division (MBD), this role is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant and business partner.

The successful candidate will work within the Selling, Marketing, General & Administrative (G&A) - R&D & Service Finance team as a Senior Finance Analyst providing Global business finance support to the Marketing Function, driving better cost control and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong business partnering with Marketing Vice President, Global Senior Directors and Marketing teams; define practices and strategies to add value and maintain cost effectiveness and return on investment
  • Develop robust processes to provide visibility to investments, savings and overall financial performance on execution of Marketing initiatives
  • Lead the global month-end, re-forecasting processes in reporting Marketing costs with particular focus on KPI's and variance analysis against Plan, Prior Quarter and Prior Year
  • Lead and build the annual Marketing AOP
  • Support, challenge and verify business case investment proposals assessing financial risks and opportunities, collaborating across Marketing and Commercial Finance teams
  • Detailed tracking of costs by Marketing activity with focus on variances to Plan and prior forecast
  • Track Marketing productivity and drive continuous process improvement across Marketing
  • Prepare and present monthly MBD Marketing financials and bridges
  • Manage and develop relationships with APAC Financial Controller, Shared Services & Site Accountants for both Management Accounting and compliance to US Statutory Accounting
  • Cost Centre review across the Marketing entities
  • Headcount modelling with particular focus on various analysis against Plan, Prior Quarter and Prior Year including drivers of headcount investment
  • Build financial models for capital investment appraisals
  • Manage capital controls to ensure effective process, spend analysis and execution
  • Drive continuous process improvement within the Finance Function
  • Work on other ad hoc tasks as required


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance people; developing relationships at all levels across sites, shared services and the Division
  • Strong Business Partnering Experience up to Divisional VP level
  • The candidate should have the ability to manage multiple assignments, has good judgement and prioritizes projects and time effectively
  • The ability to develop well thought through, robust and financially sound analysis:
  • Is curious to understand business performance with an analytical mind and the ability to translate this into insights for others;
  • Is disciplined in approach to quality, attention to detail and is focused on delivery
  • Proactively drives continuous improvement, looking for opportunities to constantly improve processes
  • The ideal candidate will have a commitment to continuous learning, demonstrate a desire to advance and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
  • Qualified Professional Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
  • Working experience of SAP and Hyperion would be advantageous
