About the Role

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of global Business Wire payroll and procedures, as well as liaising with the People & Culture Team to maintain efficiency in all aspects of Payroll administration. This is a position that is largely focused on handling administrative tasks, with strategic oversight of global payroll practices. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations. We also value integrity, collaboration, team spirit and strong organizational skills.

Role Responsibilities
    • Oversee all aspects of domestic payroll processes and ensure that payroll information is collected and transmitted efficiently and accurately on an ongoing basis. Tasks include: Benefits and salary-related payroll adjustments such as garnishments, tax withholding, disability/unemployment/worker's comp wage inquiries, regular updates to general ledger, and other payroll-related responsibilities as necessary.
    • Troubleshoot issues in Workday Payroll. Test, devise appropriate solutions, and configure changes in the system.
    • Oversee efficient and accurate collection of all employee information and establish necessary HR and payroll records.
    • Ensure that record-keeping is in compliance with appropriate regulatory retention requirements.
    • Oversee Payroll staff which is responsible for administration of global payroll functionalities, Third-Party vendors, and Allotments.
    • Set a vision for and lead payroll staff, projects, and global initiatives; providing support, guidance and leadership.
    • Collaborate on payroll-related projects and initiatives; implement ongoing process improvements and better business practices to deliver quality customer service.
    • Ensure global payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner while accounting for the funding of all payroll deductions to third parties and tax authorities.
    • Ensure appropriate payroll controls and backup systems are in place.
    • Build strong cross functional business partner relationships throughout the organization and externally (i.e.,Topbloc).


Skills and Qualifications
    • 1+ year of post go-live Workday Payroll processing experience with Workday HCM. 2+ years of experience preferred.
    • The ability to troubleshoot issues in Workday Payroll as well as to come up with solutions, test, and potentially configure system changes.
    • Must possess knowledge of laws and regulations relating to wages, benefits, and other employment matters.
    • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities efficiently.
    • Must be "customer service" focused and demonstrate an ongoing desire to improve HR processes.
    • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills and identify strengths and weaknesses with payroll and benefits administration, and help provide alternative solutions to problems.
    • Must be able to help lead and motivate change as necessary.
    • Must demonstrate an ability to handle payroll matters with discretion, sensitivity and business sensibility.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at various levels throughout the organization.
    • Moderate level of experience with Microsoft Excel required (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
