How you'll contribute

Be a valued business partner by providing accurate and timely financial information and valuable strategic insights so that thoughtful and timely decisions can be made as opportunities unfold. This role will play a key part in assisting with the advancement of our balanced, value-creating biotechnology model and have a direct view into UT's dynamic portfolio of products and diverse clinical development processes.
  • Recommends, leads development of, and implements new ideas and strategic direction regarding existing FP&A processes to assist with the positive momentum of the achievement of the UTC's strategic direction.
  • Contributes to the achievement of adding new initiatives to assist with the overall strategic goals of the CFO's organization.
  • Be a key contributor to the FP&A process, providing thoughtful, relevant and timely insight on the operational performance of UT, from a detailed analysis of individual programs consolidated up to a companywide view.
  • Assist with the assurance that UT's financial management process is being conveyed, monitored and managed consistently across the organization.
  • Be recognized (and sought out) as a trusted leader to advise on financial decisions and analysis.
  • Cultivate a trusted reputation through direct relationships with UT's senior leadership as well as individual budget managers, based on credibility, responsiveness, consistency, visibility, access and depth and breadth of knowledge of UT as well as specific and unique areas.
  • Assist with the flawless execution of elements of the FP&A processes, including annual budget meetings, detailed quarterly and ad-hoc analysis and communications.
  • Recognized as a high performing team member who understands UT and provides analytical support for a broad range of operational and strategic decisions.
  • Processes to inform and accelerate the preparation of accurate data to be utilized in decision making.
  • Assist in the assessment of current and viable business opportunities.


Key Responsibilities
  • This position will assist with the execution and design of UT's comprehensive FP&A processes.
  • Assist with development of a 3-year Strategic Plan.
  • Enhance and maintain forecast processes of financial results, including annual and quarterly financial reports from both GAAP and cash perspective.
  • Analyze and understand budget to actual comparisons relative to the financial forecasts.
  • Enhance business processes within specific operating areas to improve information flow and ultimately decision making and budget management.
  • Enhance and maintain a cash forecast to support the strategic planning process.
  • Work within the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and SAS systems to assist in the set-up and on-going management of operating budgets and expense classification.
  • Collaborate and partner with all areas of the Finance Organization, including corporate accounting, tax, business development, real estate, investor relations and risk and insurance, to ensure accuracy and integrity of the consolidated financial statements.
  • Demonstrate interest and ability to mentor FP&A with leadership skills and high degree of technical knowledge to allow team members to achieve their individual career potential.
  • Prepare, analyze, and manage key performance indicators and other business operating metrics for corporate as well as individual initiative performance.
  • Coach, mentor and develop employees and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis.


For this role you will need

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree is Accounting or Finance
  • MBA degree or professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant years of demonstrated practical experience developing robust financial statement as well as business-case modeling skills
  • Prior experience in a corporate FP&A function
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting skills (GAAP)
  • Expertise in business analytics and tools including advanced Excel skills, planning systems (Hyperion, SAS) and SQL skills
  • Experience in SAP
  • Expertise is Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
