About the role

This newly created role, which will lead the compliance monitoring, assurance and remediation activities across AIG Australia and New Zealand. You will provide support to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), Australasia to ensure that the regulatory requirements of AIG Australia and AIG New Zealand are understood and are met through the implementation, monitoring and assurance of AIG's compliance related frameworks and policies.

What you need to know:

At the direction of the CCO, oversee, manage, or otherwise support the following tasks:
  • Lead, support and champion the implementation of a fit for purpose local compliance management tool/system
  • Develop a controls monitoring and assurance program
  • Implementation of the controls monitoring and assurance program, including undertaking monitoring, oversight and assurance activities
  • Report on monitoring and assurance activities to Management and Board Committees
  • Provide advice and support to stakeholders on the implementation of solutions required to better manage compliance risk and control issues identified in the monitoring and assurance program
  • Partner with stakeholders on all compliance risk and control matters
  • Provide compliance advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of compliance breaches and incidents
  • Contribute to the implementation and on-going management of the localised compliance management framework for Australia and New Zealand in conjunction with global compliance requirements we manage being part of a global business
  • Promote a strong compliance risk culture
  • Support continuous education and improvement initiatives within the Compliance function and broader business
  • Other relevant duties as they arise


What we're looking for:
  • More than 5 years of relevant experience undertaking controls monitoring and assurance activities in a compliance function within financial services, preferably insurance
  • Approachable, self-starter, problem-solver with the ability to challenge respectfully
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the presence and ability to interact and build credibility across all levels of staff
  • Understanding of key insurance legislation and regulatory obligations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong presence and articulate when dealing with stakeholders
  • Ability to drive outcomes, a self-starter with initiative and an ability to problem solve
  • A professional educational background; preferably legal or audit qualifications
