The opportunity:
Our tax department is growing and we may very soon have open positions in our EMEIA Tax Center dedicated for Indirect Tax /VAT specialists from senior to manager levels.
Your key responsibilities: For senior level candidates:
Implement Client’s engagements from start to finish (Planning, executing, directing and completing project)Manage engagement economicsInterpreting and complying with state and local statutes, regulations and legislationsProactively resolve tax-related problem and make recommendations for business and process improvementsAct as a single point of contact to handle the engagement related activities for the Central team or Local EY representativesDetailed review of amended returns and supporting work papersAssist in preparation of responses to various tax auditsRecommend tax strategies by researching federal, state and local taxation issuesGain understanding of Client operations, processes and business activitiesSupervise, train and mentor staffs and interns on the engagements
For manager level candidates:
Liaise with your international clients and colleagues with respect to European VAT and VAT compliance - being a central point of contact Organize and coordinate the client serving team during the resolution of any out of scope activitiesMonitor the quality of the indirect tax data and reports of your clientsFinal review and sign-off of indirect tax returnsFollow up on legislative changes and business changes in order to ensure that the systems and/or processes are updatedSupport the Assistance VAT Controller ('Assistance manager') in case of issues encountered during the preparation of the returnsPropose improvement possibilities to raise effectiveness and efficiency of the work processesOrganizing the annual desktop reviewFinal review of the periodical indirect tax compliance calendar and sending this to clientManaging the completion of the full cycle for an indirect tax returnManaging the set-up of new technology toolsUpdating the engagement documentation (desk procedures)Managing contractual agreements with local EY officesIdentify opportunities to bring to clients based upon their footprint and issuesBroaden the relationship network with existing clients and participate in commercial initiatives together with senior executives or partners. Staying up to date on all relevant changes in the international tax landscape and actively share this knowledge in order to support the continuous development of your colleagues. + 4 years of relevant professional experience in European VAT and VAT complianceExcellent EnglishGood knowledge of general VAT principles.Excellent knowledge about functioning/usage of ERP-systems.Broad exposure to federal and state income taxation and knowledge of tax regulations • Accounts Payable / Receivable experienceDynamic, innovative & problem resolution focus with good communication skills.Understanding of Global Indirect Tax Compliance and the associated processes.Hands on Indirect Tax – VAT or Property Tax Experience is a plusBasic knowledge of the other services:Direct Tax ComplianceStatutory ReportingBookkeeping;Corporate SecretarialService ManagementPricingInvestment Products TaxPayrollTechnical expertise on the Power BI, Alteryx tools is appreciatedWhat working at EY offers In EY GDS you can count on stable employment and upgrading your career.
