  • Ideally the candidate will be currently working from Paris but our client is also open to candidates who are currently living and working in London, and who would be open to moving to Paris in 1 or 2 years' time. In this situation, they would be working from the London office (or remotely, as most of the office is working from home at present) to manage the Paris finance function/office.

  • Ideally a fully-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA/CPA) candidate (but my client is open as they appreciate in the French system, candidates are not required to possesses a professional accountancy qualification) with a min. of 10 years post-qualification experience
  • Well-rounded accounting and finance skills covering: financial control, financial accounting, management accounting, tax reporting, regulatory reporting (ideal but not essential)
  • Experience from the financial services sector (working for large and established blue chip companies) (essential)
  • Experience reporting across EMEA region (or across multiple jurisdictions) (essential)
  • Must have good experience reporting under French GAAP and IFRS (essential)
  • Team management experience
  • Must be fluent in both French and English (essential) with excellent stakeholder management skills

  • About the role and the right profile:

    The role requires a confident, proactive, decisive and dynamic individual, with keen commercial sense and an ability to make a difference. A key challenge of the role will be dealing with a multitude of stakeholders and projects with a diverse range of information needs. Prioritisation and timely execution of a wide variety of objectives will be an important part of the role.

    Role remit and responsibilities:
    • To act as a Financial Controller for the French legal entities, ensuring the accuracy of the books and records, statutory and regulatory returns
    • Constantly review the finance service provided to ensure an efficient support model is in place for the EMEA locations
    • To act as the point of contact for all finance reporting, control & governance with each of the local offices in the region
    • Drive the appropriate finance agenda in each of the offices, meeting all required deadlines, driving process improvement and maintaining a robust control & process framework
    • Ensure the CFO is kept up to date with all developments and KPIs for each of the offices as necessary
    • Develop and manage the EMEA Finance team and provide support and guidance on all financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting deliverables
    • Providing financial input, challenge & analysis to ad hoc projects and initiatives, including new products, investments etc.
    • Assit the EMEA locations with intercompany ownership, agreement and timely settlement of outstanding balances.
    • Provide support to the statutory accounting process with local teams, liaising with local audit teams as necessary
    • Provide support in all required regulatory reporting, understanding local requirements, and analysing capital adequacy - proactively managing & communicating as appropriate
    • Assisting in cost control and management for the offices
    • Provide support in all relevant Treasury and cash flow management
    • Requirement to attend local entity and Board level governance meetings
    • Input and attendance to regular business/function meetings with key stakeholders
    • Financial risk management for the local offices
    • Ability to develop good relationships and work closely with all aspects of the business in all the offices when necessary, including the office MDs and local support teams
    • Clear understanding of reporting systems and processes. Ability to identify information gaps and assist in developing systems / processes which address such gaps
    • Establish and maintain strong communication channels with the wider finance team, promptly sharing information gained from the local offices, enabling any issues to be addressed or changes to be known

    Management responsibilties:
    • Management, leadership and supervision of all Finance staff in EMEA locations
    • Development of team objectives to improve efficiency, reporting and processes
    • Provide leadership, direction, advice and guidance to the team, maintaining high levels of integrity, motivation and morale
    • Maintain staff competence by ensuring that staff skills or knowledge gaps are met with appropriate training and development as required in order to perform their roles to their maximum capability and fulfil their potential

    Additional points to help identify the right candidate:
    • Fluent in both English and French is essential

    • Qualified Accountant (or Qualified by Experience) with at least 10 years of post qualification experience
    • In depth knowledge of French GAAP is essential with a good grasp of IFRS
    • Skilled in system or process improvements
    • Financial services sector experience would be desirable, preferably working for established and large blue chip companies
