This position will partner with regional leadership on metro-level strategy, P&L and strategic capacity allocation / management for the assigned territory. You will facilitate and/or drive the programs through which the assets in the portfolio are optimized and grown.

  • Develop a keen understanding of Equinix's business strategy and how that overall strategy is implemented in different metros and data center assets
  • Understand how Equinix data centers in the region fit into this strategy, and how the local competitive landscape impacts pricing and fill rate
  • Partner with Managing Directors and Corporate Development on creation and execution of ten-year metro-level strategies including, but not limited to, competitive assessment, pricing, fill-rates, vertical mix, target ROIC and ensuring we have a real estate plan to support this strategy (land bank, etc)
  • As a subset of Metro Strategy, partner with Managing Directors, product management regional business development on ecosystem development / magnet capture that protects existing interconnection market leadership or propels us towards this market leadership
  • Metro capacity strategy - trigger business cases for capacity expansions in existing buildings, new buildings as conditions permit, take a key role in pitching expansion cases to C-level management to secure funding
  • Work with Sales, Product Marketing and Commercial Solutions to define and communicate acceptable deal characteristics for each data center based on factors such as business case commercial assumptions (fill rate, yield, mix of retail vs. large footprint deals) utilization, market rates, pricing, etc
  • Work with IBX Ops, Design and Construction to see opportunities to increase capacity in our current IBX facilities to improve occupancy and optimize for ROIC
  • Identify, evaluate and implement, as appropriate, other programs to increase ROIC and improve profitability and utilization
  • Work with a broader business operations unit consisting of engineers, financial experts and business process leaders to lead Equinix Americas' business
  • Make or inform business trade-offs that require understanding of all of the above

  • Finance, mathematics, science or engineering background or meaningful industry experience
  • Understanding of the colocation competitive space
  • 10+ years' experiencein finance preferred
  • Track record of improving the P&L for a product line or business unit through improvements in operational processes and sales strategies
  • History of using strong communications skills across multiple departments
  • Solid presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills; experience packaging financial and operational data in an executive manner focused on driving business decisions
  • BA/BS degree or MBA or similar preferred
