Job Role

Freshworks is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Chennai, India. This is an opportunity in helping to build a financial foundation for a fast growing pre-IPO unicorn company. The Analyst will work closely with the Business Finance FP&A Team to identify / conceptualize the right ways of looking at the business, prepare relevant reports, track the right metrics and provide analytical insights that help drive business outcomes. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate accounting for all cost line items, including cost center and allocations, if any
  • Alignment with Strategic Sourcing: Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing to ensure that all key tools, services and other procurements for the Product/Engineering org are properly validated, appropriate controls are in place regarding usage, vendor selection, cost negotiation etc.
  • Plan vs. actuals (monthly): Prepare and share monthly reports for function. Analyze variances and report key insights, Providing insights, trends along with tracking and reporting key metrics to the management
  • Responsible to maintain the plan/forecast versions in our planning tool
  • Work with the engineering leaders to consolidate and provide inputs for accounting for the software capitalization process on a monthly basis
  • Work closely with the broader finance team and key stakeholders
  • Help in driving predictability by supporting forecasting/accrual/reporting for the function
  • Assist with cost control and optimization measures
  • Adhoc reporting and analysis


This role requires a strong understanding of financial disciplines, good business acumen, and the ability to communicate recommendations effectively. A bachelor's degree with an emphasis on business or accounting is required. A CA or MBA is preferred with at least 3+ years of demonstrated growth progression. Other requirements include the following:

• Strong Team Player, positive attitude and good work ethic

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Advanced Excel-based modeling skills and Powerpoint skills

• Experience in an IT software / product company would be preferred. SaaS experience is a plus

• Exposure to planning, financial analysis tools such as Anaplan, Hyperion, a plus

• Ability to think creatively, are highly driven and self-motivated

• Attention to detail with an action-oriented mindset

• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently while meeting deliverables under tight time constraints.
