Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO with the management of the overall integrity of internal and external financial reporting to all stakeholders. The role assumes responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger accounts and timeliness of reporting to stakeholders. This role also includes managing the process of payroll, benefit and pension administration.

Principal Accountabilities:

Assisting the CFO in managing the accounting/financial operations including:

  • Preparing journal entries
  • General Ledger Reconciliation
  • Preparing Month-end working papers and financial statements.
  • Providing timely internal information to management for review and appropriate action.
  • Performing treasury functions including bank recs, cash transfers and cash flow forecasting
  • Ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of daily activities (A/P, A/R, Purchasing, Cash Flow, Credit and Collections, Payroll etc.)
  • Responsible for coordinating the bi-annual inventory process
  • Helps coordinate year-end activities with external auditors
  • Assisting in tax planning initiatives
  • Ensuring that systems of internal control are adequate and effective
  • Assisting in implementation and effectiveness of digital strategy for operational efficiency
  • Oversee and manage the payroll process to ensure on time and correct processing


Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • All required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.


Knowledge, Skills and Education:

  • Has obtained or is working towards an accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting
  • Computer proficiency for ERP software along with Microsoft office products.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking and analysis
  • Teamwork and dedication to owning this role.
