The Company

Our client, an ASX listed organisation, are currently in need of an Assistant Accountant to assist a hard-working and experienced team of two Financial Accountants as well as work closely with the transactional team, assisting their day to day where need be. Working in a cash positive and high transaction environment, no two days will be the same as you manage your time between supporting other members of the team as well as working closely with the Finance Manager.

The Role

While at times you will be required to perform ad hoc duties, your main responsibilities will be;
  • Month-end processes adherence to month-end timetables and reconciliations
  • Assist in the review and analysis of balance sheet reconciliations for relevant business unit
  • Perform permanent and accrual journals for month-end process
  • Prepare monthly BAS returns for three companies within the wide business
  • Prepare monthly IAS
  • Liaising with corresponding internal stakeholders for raising Purchase Requisitions for CAPEX and corresponding monthly depreciation journal
  • Review and verify invoices for Accounts Payable before processing of payment; ensure that all invoices are coded correctly
  • Review invoices for intercompany billings and reconciling of payments.
  • Monthly reconciliation of multiple bank accounts in multiple currencies.

About you

Having a minimum of 5 years' experience, and being at least part qualified, you will have a strong analytical mindset and the creative flair to interpret information and offer initiatives to streamline the accounting and reporting process. Prior experience in a high transaction environment as well as a key emphasis on client liaison with customers throughout their entire journey. Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge as well as previous experience in the building industry are favourable to the success of this position.

You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills that allow you to convey complex ideas to those with a non-financial background.
