About the Role:

Kerry is seeking an experienced Accountant for a 6-month fixed-term contract role as a General Ledger Controller, supporting the Country Compliance Director who is responsible for ensuring that Kerry is conducting its business in full compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to the food industry, as well as professional standards, accepted business practices and internal controls. There are three statutory entities falling under the scope of this role - South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. We are looking for someone to start asap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial forecasts for the various statutory entities
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for Nigeria and Kenya legal entities which would include year-end statutory requirements.
  • Preparation of year end financial statements for the South Africa legal entity
  • Annual update of the Kerry Control Reporting System (KCRS) where internal controls are documented and reported on.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations for the various statutory entities
  • Review and analysis of leases (IFRS 16 impact)
  • Preparation of monthly hedging forecasts
  • Annual update of insurance questionnaire for insurance risk requirements
  • Provide hands-on support with the annual external audit
  • Support the Compliance Director where required with regards to:
  • Kerry transfer pricing requirements
  • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities
  • Taxation and Custom Duties Requirements which include:
    • Income Tax and VAT Computations
    • Deferred Tax Models
    • SARs fling requirements and payments for income tax and VAT
    • Management of With-Holding Tax (WHT) requirements for Nigeria and Kenya
    • Adherence to custom duties requirements for import and export transactions
  • Company Secretarial Duties
  • Funding Requirements for working capital and CAPEX projects

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, MIA, CA)
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience
  • P&L Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite - SAP knowledge preferable
  • Astute business and commercial acumen
  • Experience in the improvement and standardization of processes
  • Knowledge of South African, East African and West African local statutory requirements would be beneficial – audit, direct and indirect tax
