PayJoy is hiring an Assistant Controller to join our fast-paced, mission driven, and talented team. Reporting into the VP of Finance, you will lead the accounting department in its next stage of development, including getting audited financial statements, and reinforcing accounting policies, controls and procedures. This is your opportunity to shape PayJoy's accounting practice and develop a global team across US, Latin America, and Africa. You have experience in lending businesses, and you share our mission to expand access to finance to the next billion consumers worldwide.

  • Oversee all aspects of PayJoy's accounting practice, including general and inter-company accounting, AR, AP, payroll, cash reconciliation and taxes
  • Drive the process to get audited financial statements, and ensure on-time publication of financial reports
  • Work with tax advisors to optimize taxes and ensure successful completion of quarterly and annual filings
  • Maintain and record intercompany transactions, and performing monthly multi-currency and multi-entity consolidation in NetSuite
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, year-end financials in compliance with applicable reporting standards
  • Maintain NetSuite and drive automation of accounting processes to ensure scalability
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, controls and procedures on global scale
  • Partner with FP&A to manage expenses and publish budget vs actuals analysis and other reporting packages
  • Build and develop a global accounting team to support our global businesses, and manage external accounting teams when needed


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, plus CPA.
  • 8-10 years of public and corporate accounting experience, with a focus in lending business. IFRS experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and working experience with NetSuite preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead, and develop high performing teams. Global experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to present in person and in writing to non-finance audiences.
  • Spanish fluency required.
