Your new role
Your roles primary purpose will be to support the head of internal audit in the day to day running of the audit function.You will be providing an independent service specifically designed to improve the organisations risk management, internal control and governance arrangements through the evaluation of policies, procedures and operations.

This is a senior role and you will need to be able to manage a team effectively and deputise for the head confidently. You will assist with the three year audit plan and the operational audit plans so you`ll be experienced with long term audit planning as well as current/annual plans.

The role is not a doing role, you will only rarely get involved in carrying out some of the higher profile, complex audits.

This would be an excellent move for someone with management experience in an audit firm or industry organisation, who would like a senior management role with good benefits / work - life balance and internal opportunities to head of level down the line.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will be a qualified accountant or internal auditor. You will very likely have internal audit experience in the public sector, but it is not essential. You`ll need strong management experience and have the confidence to deputise for the head of in some high level situations.

In return you`ll be offered a role with a leading governmental employer. You will receive a salary of £44,606 to £50,819 (we can appoint top end provided your current remuneration warrants it) and a final salary pension scheme. You`ll get 27 days holidays + 8 bank holidays and this will rise to 31 after time served. Access to a salary sacrifice lease car scheme. You will have a working week which is 37.5 hours with flexible working and work from home options. You can be based in multiple locations in South East Wales so we have a location to suit everyone
