A new opportunity has arisen as part of the expansion of our internal audit team within the 850 Food Group (Karro and Youngs Seafood). You will be required to evaluate and provide independent assurance which will be presented to the audit committee and to senior management on the effectiveness of the organisation's risk management, governance and internal control processes. You will facilitate the delivery of the annual audit plan through independent completion of audits end-to-end. Working across all sites and levels of the organisation this role is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant with financial audit experience to move into a rapidly expanding and fast paced business.

Whilst based at our group head office in Malton this role will involve regular travel, often at short notice, across the 850 Food Group sites and to Europe.

Key responsibilities:
  • Delivery of the annual internal audit plan through the completion of internal audit reviews as instructed by the Head of Internal Audit
  • Audit Committee papers
  • Provision of guidance and improving standardisation to the wider finance community through participation in working groups and projects
  • Deputise for the Head of Internal Audit where required

Essential skills and experience:
  • Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Experience within a large accountancy firm or equivalent manufacturing business
  • Financial audit experience
  • Experience in discussing contentious matters, influencing key stakeholders to achieve outcomes, negotiating actions and deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve and approach complex issues with an open mind whilst also considering any associated risks
  • Self-driven and an ability to work on own initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Seeks and develops new relationships across business to ensure that internal audit is a valued resource and a first port of call for management
  • Excellent communicator (both written and verbally) able to engage a varied audience including board members
  • Applicants should be approachable whilst maintaining an objective and independent approach
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Experience of prioritising workload, managing expectations and working independently to complete tasks

Preferred education, skills and experience:
  • Understanding of risk management
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Experience of sitting on project boards and working groups
  • Experience of guidance, procedure and policy writing
