Microsoft Asia Pacific (APAC) is a high growth multi-country region consisting of 9 subsidiaries (Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand) and the South East Asia New Markets multi-country sub region (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives). Microsoft Asia Pacific has been a key enabler of the market IT growth through solid partnership with Governments, Enterprise, small and medium as well as IT partners and consumer partners of the region. The APAC Finance team has the responsibility to partner with sales and marketing teams with the incremental complexity of supporting all countries and multiple legal entities. Microsoft Finance is a truly global finance team, and you will be part of the WW community of FP&A Controllers to make each other great and build on each other.
The Financial Controller acts as a functional lead for the Management P&L of the area and is responsible to orchestrate the financial controller team and rhythm. The Financial Controller partners closely with the M&O/ BSO lead, HR and the area leadership team to enhance Area resource optimization and to ensure P&L accuracy.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and orchestrate all the P&L budget-/ forecasting processes and efforts. Own the month-/ fiscal year closing activities and ensure robust P&L reconciliation. Ensure high P&L forecast accuracy throughout the financial fiscal year.
  • Drive process excellence and simplification. Ensure a smooth end-to-end ownership while maximizing efficiencies for the HQ and country teams.
  • Manage FOM (field operating model) at area level. Enable the decision makers to optimize spending and enable timely investments. Be a reliable advisor to the area leadership team and the finance VP.
  • Enable highly reliable headcount planning throughout the fiscal year. Ensure landing and adherence of next fiscal year's headcount blueprint in partnership with the BSO lead and the investment finance manager.
  • Manage people cost (payroll & taxes) and headcount at the area level:
  • Cost per head, headcount, people costs: Monitor, analyze trends, identify variance to forecast, one-off items and causes of unexpected variances.
  • Headcount ramp: Accountable for headcount planning and ramp.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll costs, by making a solid review of MoM variances, spikes and coordinating with local stat & tax controllers and 3rd parties' resources (Accenture) as appropriate.
  • Supervise SOX compliance and sign-off for area management P&L.
  • Key point of contact for corporate community leads, responsible to land WW finance initiatives. Drive and grow the financial controller community at an Area and WW level by sharing learnings and replicating best practices.
  • Manage a team of external Resources. Model Microsoft's leadership principles at its best to make the team successful sustainably.


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of working experience (preferably previous P&L experience).
  • BA/BS in Finance, Economics or similar (preferably Master/ MBA).
  • Strong accounting skills (preferably accounting/ CPA qualification).
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Very strong communication skills (fluent in English is a must).
  • Team player with exceptionally strong influential skills. Ability to quickly establish credibility and trust with very senior business partners.
  • Strong attention to detail while being able to think larger contexts
  • Preferably previous experience in other multinational companies
