The Role Responsibilities

Strategic Finance Business Partner

The Technology & Innovation (T&I) organisation has a cost base of over c.$2bn P&L across run and change the bank and c. 17k headcount.

Reporting to the CFO for T&I, this role provides all aspects of financial support to key members of the T&I MT.

The role requires the individual to build a deep-rooted understanding of the organisation they support to help provide insight, advice and healthy challenge regarding decision making. They are there to ensure that the organisation spends efficiently and effectively in line with the strategic goals of T&I and the wider organisation. In addition, that there is effective finance governance and controls in place.
  • Key business partner for the relevant T&I MT members and their teams. An admired member of the management teams, representing all aspects of finance.
  • Trusted partner to the T&I MT members, integral to financial decision making and influencing behaviour of organization on all aspects of cost and associated commercials.
  • A member of various business forums representing T&I finance and in particular steering committees driving strategic change within the organisation.
  • Drives the financial budget and forecast process and works with the business to support delivery of commitments to the Group.
  • Develops and provides timely, relevant and accurate financial MIS including thematic reviews and deep dives as required.
  • Oversight of month end financial deliverables.
  • Governs the integrity of project financials from a 'supply' perspective for T&I for the relevant T&I MT members. Supports business case appraisals as necessary.
  • Ensures the integrity of the financial books and records for business through partnership with other finance teams.
  • Leads process improvement initiatives across T&I Finance, assisting with policy and guidance where necessary, help develop guidelines on process and concepts with a view for transparency and training.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring robust recovery methodology, processes and engagement model in place to recharge costs to the business in line with bank-wide control frameworks.
  • Drives change through behaviour and seeks to build a strong and capable finance team. Providing leadership and inspiration.
  • Takes ownership of parts of the change agenda for T&I finance and the wider finance community where appropriate.
  • Helps drive overall planning and analytics capability for T&I finance.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 15+ years PQE.
  • Extensive experience in cost management of +10 years and, ideally supporting Technology organisations.
  • Knowledge of SCB finance systems and processes preferred.
  • Experience of working in a global organisation with an extensive country footprint.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and a background of working with senior leaders in organisations beyond finance.
  • Big picture, strategic thinking with attentions to details.
  • Structured approach combined with innovative ideas.
  • Confident & impactful with a skill for constructive challenge.
  • Collegiate.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of experience of driving change and process re-engineering.
  • Team player and ability to work well within a matrixed global environment
