Ancestry has an exciting opportunity for a one-year contract position as International Finance Director during a maternity cover. This position will report to the Global Controller and will be responsible for leading an international accounting team of six professionals (two direct reports and four indirect reports). This contract position, based in Dublin, Ireland, is expected to go from November 2020 to November 2021.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the International Finance team; driving projects, supporting employee development and taking ultimate responsibility for all International accounting activity
  • Maintain accounting records for multiple international entities in accordance with US GAAP
  • Lead the preparation of all International entities' required statutory financial reports in accordance with FRS 102/IFRS
  • Oversee month-end close process for all International entities and ensure all corresponding financials are delivered by the applicable deadlines
  • Oversee the day-to-day finance function for all international entities
  • Work closely with Corporate Finance team based in US and ensure accounting policies and procedures are in line with corporate guidance
  • Maintain and improve internal controls over accounting processes
  • Support external and internal auditors
  • Partner with and provide accounting support to colleagues in other departments (e.g. Tax, Marketing, HR, etc.)
  • Provide financial guidance to local teams in Ireland, UK, Australia, US, Sweden, Germany and Canada
  • Complete other projects as required


Who You Are:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (Big 4 training practice preferred)
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience in industry
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP and capability of applying it in a practical manner
  • Technically minded yet commercially focused, familiar with FRS 102 and IFRS and has had exposure to complex international structures
  • Experience in working for the Irish subsidiary of a US based company strongly preferred
  • Ability to analyse financial data and clearly and concisely document the interpretation of financial analysis
  • Ability to act independently, exercising independent decision-making and fulfilling responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Excellent supervisory and teamwork skills with the ability to work with others in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail
  • Strong data skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Oracle, TM1, and FloQast is desirable
