About The Role

The Internal Audit team at AO is a key department in the business, responsible for providing assurance across the Group that risk mitigation is performing effectively and in accordance with the accepted risk appetite, and for giving practical guidance on where improvement is required to reduce risk exposure. Essentially you're helping to protect us as we grow, and improve the risk maturity of the business. A big focus for this role is going to be focusing on our IT security and tech strategy.

The team undertake their work in an agile manner and are currently based remotely to meet a challenging risk-based Internal Audit plan that covers the majority of functions across the Group, and all territories AO operate within. The small team in place do this efficiently and effectively. The role also offers a unique opportunity to understand how individual components of the business contribute to the Group's overall objectives. Internal Audit at AO is delivered in a less than traditional way and the team is driven to ensure stakeholder engagement in audit activities is maximised. We are looking to fully extend our assurance proposition into technology risk.

In addition to the internal audit plan, the team is seen as a trusted advisor to the Group in terms of risk, and your experience is going to contribute to the advise we provide. Additional responsibilities are to facilitate the Risk Management Committee and maintain the supporting risk identification and analysis tools as well as offering an open door policy to provide advice on risk on an ad hoc basis.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• Undertaking IT audits across AO territories, primarily through remote working including the UK & Germany
• Working to a challenging schedule in order to complete the Internal Audit plan.
• Planning, scoping, developing testing programmes and providing assurance on IT-related audit engagements. This will include IT security, infrastructure, IT project/product management, asset control, reviewing third party service/cloud hosting providers and contract management.
• Working with audit stakeholders across the Group to communicate audit findings, develop relevant recommendations and monitor progress towards implementation.
• Presenting audit findings in written reports or appropriate alternatives.
• Continuous improvement of Internal Audit processes.
• Peer review of working papers / verification of findings and conclusions made, and proof reading of final reports.
• On-going ad hoc support and advice provided to the business regarding IT risk exposure and risk mitigation, including assistance on maintaining the IT Risk Register.
• Integration with the business culture to develop strong relationships and trust with key stakeholders whilst maintaining professional standards and ethics.
• Contributing to the quarterly audit reporting pack that is issued to the Board and Group Executive Team.
• Undertaking standalone audit reviews separate to the approved Internal Audit plan at the request of audit stakeholders, including the Audit Committee, the Risk Committee and the Group Executive Team.
• Identifying IT security and fraud risks, and assisting with fraud investigations when required.
• Involvement in validation of whistleblowing activity and assisting investigations when required.
• Working collaboratively with the wider Internal Audit team as required.

A Few Things About You

• Have accreditations in technology risk and controls related areas such as CISA or Cobit.

• Preferably, also have qualifications such as ITIL, CRISC and QISA, and familiarity with ISO27001 and NCSC.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style to the situation.

• Smart thinking and driven approach to work in order to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of Internal Audit.

• Ability to work independently and remotely when conducting audits.

• Collaborative approach to risk management when working with key audit stakeholders.

• Ability to identify key testing evidence sources, undertake appropriate reviews of available evidence and produce relevant findings and conclusions.

• Have IT knowledge on IT networks, operating systems, databases, and applications, ideally including the D365 and cloud technologies.

• Ability to promote engagement in Internal Audit activity.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Previous audit experience would be preferential but not essential.

• Full UK driving licence

• A flexible approach to work and willingness to travel in the UK & Germany as required when conducting on site audit work.
