Director of Financial Planning and Analysis - Georgetown University's Office of Financial Planning and Analysis

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is a key position in the Office of Financial Planning and Analysis. They provide management, analysis, and advisory responsibilities for the area of budget, financial planning and analysis and oversees the day to day operations of the Office of Financial Planning and Analysis. Their duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze financial and operating results, develop financial models and projections of future performance, and develop actionable insights to help the university understand key budget drivers, and highlight risks and opportunities that influence strategic decision making.
  • Be comfortable gathering and handling confidential information, understanding complex business dynamics, and developing projections with strong quantitative and conceptual underpinnings.
  • Manage the university's budget and financial management tool.
  • Serve as the Office of Financial Planning and Analysis point of contact for the Adaptive Budgeting and Forecasting System.
  • Interact with individuals from all aspects of the University community on budget, 5-year plan, forecasting and related matter, including senior management, campus fiscal officers, accounting personnel, and financial analysts.


The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis position will be instrumental in the implementation of the Adaptive budgeting and forecasting tool and be a super user/lead the working relationship with the University Information Services to build and maintain the tool.This role will work across university campuses, so the ability to collaborate, build credibility and trust, and 'connect the dots' between operational factors and value creation are critical to success. Turning insights into impact will require strong oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 8+ years of relevant and progressive experience in accounting, budget and analysis experience required
  • CPA, Master's in Business Administration, or comparable advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in a higher educational environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and use of large financial systems /database particularly Workday, Oracle, Banner, Cognos and Tableau Software Applications
  • Proven-track record of developing operating and capital budgets and utilizing rigorous financial modeling skills and statistical methods of financial planning, analysis and forecasting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the interrelationships between budgeting, accounting, financial and operating functions of complex organizations
  • Excellent communication (listening and speaking), diplomacy, discretion, and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction, be a good problem solver, be able to meet deadlines and exhibit a high-level attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, make reasoned decisions and provide leadership in a consultative and collaborative environment.
  • Experience with supervision and process improvement. Proven ability to lead and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
