Job Responsibilities
Macmahon is a leading Australian contract mining company with projects throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. Macmahon are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our high performing finance team as an Accountant.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Monthly and annual financial closing process including consolidations.
• Assisting with the half-year and year-end audits including providing support for the compilation of the data required in the annual report
• Assist in preparation of technical accounting analysis
• Completion of monthly financial accounting and journal preparation
• Month end reconciliations & journal preparation
• Balance sheet reconciliation completion and review.
• Prepare, review and analyse operations monthly results including providing monthly management accounts to the Commercial Managers
• Assisting in collating yearly budget preparation and quarterly reforecasts
• Provide adhoc reporting and analysis where required to commercial and finance team
• Providing insightful commentary on the operations within the month end reporting pack
• Systems and process improvement
We are looking for individuals who are able to demonstrate:
• CPA or CA qualified
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• Strong communication skills - able to interact with both finance and operational stakeholders
• Ability to work independently but also a strong team player - works as part of a team to deliver results on time at a high standard on set deadlines
• Ability to critically assess outputs to provide value-add to business and management.
• High attention to detail - delivers high quality outputs and deliverables
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with SAP is a bonus.
• Experience within mining and resource industry preferred
Together with the above requirements you will have the ability to multi-task, be able to demonstrate initiative and have the ability to problem solve and be a quick thinker under pressure. Exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills and a customer focused attitude are essential in order to achieve positive outcomes.
Should you be successful in being offered a role in Macmahon's Corporate Division, you will be required to pass a medical and drug and alcohol test along with obtaining a National Police Clearance.
