About the Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the primary accountabilities of the Financial Controller - A/NZ are accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, tax, treasury and financial control for the Australian & New Zealand businesses, financial consolidation of all entities (both domestic and international) and preparation of the annual audited statutory accounts for Opteon Group Holdings and its multinational subsidiaries.
On a day-to-day basis, other key accountabilities include:
Leadership & Culture - Lead and develop a solutions and customer focussed culture within the broader Finance team; Foster a culture of leadership, professional development, continuous improvement, simplification and cost reduction.
Reporting, Controls and Accounting Operations - Prepare and publish timely monthly Group and geographical segment 3-way financial statements ready for packaging into Board reporting; Lead Group month-end and year-end close process; Ensure A/NZ balance sheet accounts are regularly reconciled in accordance with the reconciliations policy; Responsible for direct and indirect tax compliance across A/NZ.
Risk & Governance - Maintain integrity and completeness of the A/NZ internal control environment; Monitor Group debt levels and compliance with debt covenants; Ensure up to date and compliant suite of accounting and financial transaction related policies are in place and visible.
Strategy & Business Planning - Assist to develop and implement the Finance strategy to support execution of the Finance and Opteon strategy

About you
- Outstanding people leadership capabilities including motivating and engaging through rapid change and growth.

- Experienced navigating and delivering in a fast-paced environment with conflicting deadlines
Other desirable skills/experience include:
- Degree and CPA / CA qualified, with significant Accounting experience in the application of financial accounting principles and practices
- Strong technical accounting experience, with the ability to apply accounting standards to business transactions and tax compliance (direct and indirect) in A/NZ
- Demonstrated success in multinational reporting and control environments
- Advanced Excel skills, with a high degree of proficiency utilising other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using an ERP system, preferably Workday or Great Plains/Dynamics
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), team orientated approach and demonstrated mentoring experience
- Working knowledge of relevant legislations and accounting standards
