Junior Accountant (Entry Level)

ERM Australia is seeking to employ a self-motivated enthusiastic and hardworking Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney.

In this role, you will assist the accounting team in applying ERM and general accounting principles and procedures to prepare accurate, timely financial reports by ensuring the accounting data of ERM ANZ is processed in an effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

• Timely and accurate monthly closing i.e. ensures all authorised journals are processed and appropriate accruals are made.
• Assisting in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts to provide relevant and timely financial information to management
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
• Assisting in preparation of critical Weekly business reports
• Weekly bank reconciliations for all business units
• Posting of applicable bank journals
• Monthly General Ledger balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure Fixed Asset Register is up-to-date and accurate
• Regional and Group reporting as required

Tax Compliance

• Assist in the calculation of annual tax returns
• Assist in the preparation annual FBT Returns
• Preparation of monthly BAS statements and annual FBT Returns
• Preparation of NZ Withholding Tax
• Preparation of PNG returns
• Preparation of WHT payments and certificates

Other

• Assist in the preparation of all annual insurance renewal questionnaires and certificates
• Monitor office lease review dates and renewal dates
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial audit.
• Update weekly cash flow
• Adhoc requests

Requirements:

• Degree from a tertiary institution in a commercial discipline. Full membership of a professional accounting body or working towards
• Sound experience in a Junior Accountants' role in a business that has a complexity of products and customer base
• Qualifications in Accounting
• 3 to 6 months experience in similar role
• Excel proficient
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• High attention to detail, particularly with numbers, and high degree of accuracy
• Willingness to learn
