About the branch

People and Finance leads and enables high quality services across both the People and Culture division, and the Finance division. The People and Finance Division provides core support and strategic services in finance, human resources, business planning and reporting, portfolio management and procurement.

The focus of the People and Culture Directorate (P&C) is to develop and support a flexible, sustainable and equitable workforce management model, which is underpinned by the provision of appropriate, consistent and timely human resources services and processes. Working as a Business Partner for the organisation, the branch provides advice, information and support to managers and employees that enable Parks Victoria to meet and exceed its workforce needs, aspiration and organisational wide workforce plans.

About the role and your responsibilities:

As a Payroll Officer, your primary responsibility is to assist the Payroll Team Leader in the preparation of the payroll for Parks Victoria in a timely and accurate manner to ensure all staff are remunerated in accordance with Parks Victoria's policies, procedures, legislative requirements and award conditions.

You will also be responsible for payroll services including; taxation, Superannuation, Salary Sacrifice, Award Interpretation, processing of data collected from multiple sources, filing. Payroll officer(s) are responsible for high quality service to all employees and managers. Other core functions include liaising with government agencies including child support, ATO & Dept of Human services etc. The key component of your role will include a strong customer service focus including providing professional and well-researched information to employees and managers regarding their pay and benefits.

To be successful for this role you will need:
  • A tertiary qualification in Payroll Services or similar is preferable
  • High Level of computer literacy, especially in Excel, data management and reporting software.
  • Experience within a Public-Sector Service environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving against defined targets.
  • Demonstrated experience Oracle R12 application or a similar payroll package
  • A current employee Working with Children Check
