JOB TITLE: Senior Financial AnalystEMPLOYMENT TYPE:Full–timeSCHEDULED HOURS:40 hours (Monday–Friday)PROGRAM: Administrative & FinanceSITE LOCATION:Windsor, CTPC#: 2343OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:Working with the Director of Finance to provide leadership and coordination of all financial accounting, planning and budget monitoring functions. Accountable for the financial analysis, reporting and management of all key financial data including tasks related to federal and non–federal grant awards and contracts. Responsible for review and analysis of financial data to improve operations and processes with program directors to meet organization goals.By:Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting while providing sound reasons for variations from budget.Perform independent research and analysis of variances, trends and unusual transaction while effectively communication findings.Performing financial analysis that facilitates accounting guidance and supporting decision making support for effective and efficient program managementRecord entries, analyze data, run queries within the general ledger system (Blackbaud).Work with IT in developing meaningful reports for publish in Decision Support Center.Monitoring and tracking financial assets in accordance with grant compliance requirementsDevelops tools to improve tracking and efficiencies of compliance and contracting requirements and processesPrepares reports and presentations utilizing a variety of computer software packages including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS AccessManagement of program cost centers to budget or other compliance requirements.Maintain and continually improve strong internal controls that ensure assets are safeguardedWorks closely with finance team to provide other support or ad hoc analysis as neededPOSITION CORE COMPETENCIES:Interpersonal Communication: Establishes positive rapport and trust with clients and co–workers.Collaboration & Teamwork: Effectively participates as a team member to advance common team goals.Cultural Competence, Diversity & inclusion: Effectively and respectfully works with others who have diverse traditions, beliefs, interpersonal styles, attitudes and behaviors.Systems Oriented Practice: Functions effectively within the organizational and financial structures of the local system of healthcare.Practice–Based Learning & Quality Improvement: Assesses and continually improves the services delivered as an individual and as an inter–professional team member.Informatics: Uses information technology to support and improve organizational effectiveness.Safety Environment: Identifies, prevents and reports unsafe situations and uses appropriate procedures to assure safety during emergency situations.Screening & Assessment: Conducts brief, evidence–based and developmentally appropriate screening and to conduct or arrange a more detailed assessment.Care Planning & Care Coordination: Creates and implements integrated care plans.Intervention: Provides a range of brief, focused prevention, treatment and recovery services.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs financial analysis that facilitates decision making and supports effective program management.Revenue analysis, forecasting and budgeting for outpatient services.Financial tracking and monitoring of all grant purchased assets.Monitoring of compliance requirements including procurement and sub–recipient monitoring.Review and monitor policies and procedures for compliance with federal and state requirements.Prepares reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.Responsible for monitoring and analyzing all grant/contract reporting.Variance analysis of internal financial reporting to program managers.Adheres to compliance and audit reporting requirements.Prepare supporting documents for monthly reporting and annual audits.Identifies and performs re–classes and journal entries on transactions if they are needed on all cost centers.Develop data analysis reports for distribution to Decision Support Center.Keep abreast of current practice relating to financial and grants management.May perform other duties and assignments, as needs require.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degree with focus in business administration or accounting and five or more years of experience that includes experience in finance, cost accounting, grants/contracts: or an equivalent combination of training and experience. MBA or CPA desirable.Experience: 5 or more years' experience in mid–market organization, preferably in the not–for–profit healthcare industry. Excellent understanding and experience with financial accounting, balance sheet/income statement and budgeting activities. Strong decision–making skills, integrity, organization, leadership skills, ability to multi–task, detail oriented, fiscally responsible and attention to accuracy. Strong communication, documentation and client interface skills. Excellent Microsoft Office and financial systems skills to support work tasks. Experience includes working with confidential information; federal and state contracting and compliance requirements; and experience with and drafting/editing policies, procedures, reports, and proposals.Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPA preferredSkills needed:Knowledge of automated accounting systems and financial report writersWell–developed financial analysis capabilitiesKnowledge of GAAP and current best accounting practicesKnowledge of Connecticut State Cost Standards and/or federal Uniform grant guidance standards.Excellent personal computer skills, knowledge of spreadsheets and data base application software. Advance Excel skills.Superior analytical and reasoning skills.Demonstrated ability to multi–task with a high–level of organization and prioritization combined with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to problem–solve and work independently.Excellent communication skills.Proficient with project management tools to create and track timelinesProven commitment to continuous quality improvement, and proven ability to learn new skills/techniques quickly and integrate them into highly polished deliverables.
