Business Analyst / Project Manager - Client Reference Data Team

The Reference Data organization is the firm-wide provider of product (financial securities), counterparty, agreement, book & account reference data, which is critical to 500+ consuming applications spanning multiple lines of business (Global Markets, Global Wealth & Investment Management, etc.) from the front office (trading apps, etc.) to the back office.

The Client technology team is looking to hire a business analyst / project manager to help support all initiatives within the Client space. This generally covers any projects aimed at advancing the strategic software platform responsible for sourcing, processing, and distributing reference data for Global Markets (called Cesium).

This person will work closely with a large software development team located in Jersey City and downtown NYC that is responsible for building & maintaining our technical platform leveraged by other teams within our organization, who are focused on building business applications. The candidate will be responsible for requirements, design, implementation, testing, and support of various projects ranging from 1 to 10 people in size.

Project types run the full spectrum for major reference data banking platform technology teams including Regulatory, Internal and External Auditing, Non-Permitted Technology and Software Vulnerability Remediation's, System and Processes Simplification programs, general SDLC for any new change to be implemented, System Advancement in line with Enterprise funded initiatives, etc.

Candidate will also assist with general "project 101" duties - requirements gathering, test script writing, QA/UAT testing new system capabilities, documentation writing, etc.

Financial industry knowledge or experience is not required. The ideal candidate is a passionate business analyst / project manager who enjoys working on technology projects and a team that operates like a small tech company within a large financial institution. Experience with Client Accounts, settlement domains and regulatory projects is preferred.

This is not a PMO position.

Key Competencies:
  • 3-5 years of experience in business analysis and project management for major US based corporations (banking, financial or global markets focused is a plus)
  • Detailed obsessed and well organized

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and enjoys a collaborative environment
  • Works under direction but transitions easily to autonomous delivery, being able to run independently
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing requirements
  • Bachelor degree in related field


Working knowledge of one or more of the following:
  • Knowledge or experience with SDLC practices
  • Knowledge or experience with Agile methodologies
  • Business requirements documentation
  • Financial reference data experience a plus
  • Any technical capabilities or experience a plus (Python, JAVA, SQL, Scala, etc.), but certainly not required

Responsible for capturing and refining business and/or system requirements (based on specialization). Works with stakeholders to understand their needs, analyze problems, and capture their requirements, and then working closely with the Development Team to refine the requirement into specifications that can be executed by the team. Possess a working knowledge of the business and/or technical domain based on their specialization. Leverages experience and understanding of stakeholder needs to help create a solution, envisions the solution to solve a problem (manual or through software). Performs Cost/Benefit Analysis to align the technology to business strategy. Gathers & catalogs functional, non-functional, and technical requirements for stakeholder requests. Determines the impact of modifications and enhancements on the application. Acts as the product(s) subject matter expert to support scope and requirement decisions. Ensures changes to the application are compliant with bank standards and policies. Assists users and development team with application testing and troubleshooting, and may help configure test solutions to validate functional and system needs. Identifies, document and troubleshoot application related problems. Documents process, procedures and workflows associated with applications. Leads or participate in continuous improvement efforts; Building expertise in creating, analyzing, and improving processes. Creates, maintains and presents training materials for end-users.
