The Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA) isan executive agency of the NSW Ministry of Health. We play an importantrole in protecting the health and safety of the public by supporting the 15 NSWHealth Professional Councils in managing complaints about NSW healthpractitioners.

What you'll be doing:

An exciting full-time ongoing opportunitycurrently exists for an experienced, hardworking and dedicated Finance Analyst to join the HPCA's Finance team. TheFinance Analyst undertakes a range of financial and accounting activities andmaintains financial systems as required. The role is required to comply withaccounting standards, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of monthly andstatutory financial statements for the NSW Health Professional Councils.

Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processingfinancial accounting entries in line with Australian Accounting Standards andTreasury requirements. This includes assisting with the preparation of FBTreturns, BAS and other compliance requirements and ensuring the properapplication of the cost allocation methodology in a multi-entity environment.
  • Assistingin the timely month end reconciliations including bank account, financialaccounting and month end financial processes including accruals (salary andnon-salary) and depreciation, ensuring appropriate management controls in monthend financial processes. Support the production of month-end, statutory earlyclose and year-end financial statements to a high quality and within therequired timeframes.
  • Providingthe "Gatekeeping/Single Point of Contact" role within iProcurement Oracle R12(or other finance system) to ensure compliance with audit requirements. Thisinvolves developing and maintaining effective relationships with the businessand HealthShare NSW Service Centre Westmead.
  • Assistingthe external and internal audit processes during the course of the year.Implementing audit recommendations and other improvements in financialpractices and processes, including the development and/or revision of financialaccounting policy and procedures manuals, and involvement in system and processimprovements and user training.
  • Assistingin managing cash and treasury function to ensure the accounts payable andreceivables operate within the trading terms, and liquidity of HPCA and NSWHealth Professional Councils includingmonitoring of cash holdings and receivables.
  • Contributingto the provision of technical advice on accounting and financial matters,including the preparation of less complex accounting position papers, andexplaining technical information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Preparingquality correspondence, reports, submissions and briefs, analysis and financialmodelling.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevanttertiary qualification in a financial or accounting discipline and/orequivalent experience, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professionaldevelopment.
  • Experienceand understanding of accounting functions and application of accountingstandards.
  • Experiencein preparing month end and year-end financial statements, preferably in a multi-entityenvironment with cost allocations and in dealing with an outsourced serviceprovider.
